dance class-
dance class is a highly imaginative, highly physical investigation of ourselves as primal movers. Together we cultivate a safe space for building community, risk, rigor and tenderness by embracing kindness, inclusivity and experimentation. We work from the body we bring each day, and we are invited to call upon all the techniques and herstories/theystories/histories that we hold. Rooted in the fundamentals of release technique and postmodern dance, class begins with a sensation-based collage of improvisation and set material. Following impulses that lie just beneath the surface of the skin and deep inside our bones, we will swirl and cast together. We nurture our technique and curiosities through set sequences, improvisation scores and composition games. Class culminates with a set-ish phrase that calls upon desires we have found together, while also challenging us physically and creatively. I work to hold a safe space for all humans- come get what you need. all levels are always welcome, however please note that this class is structured for intermediate & advanced movers + dance artists with a regular physical practice.
my teaching practice is influenced by continued lessons from mentors/teachers/friends - Kendra Portier, Michelle Boulé, Jennifer Nugent, Joanna Kotze, Samita Sinha, Miguel Gutierrez, John Jasperse, Anna Sperber, Yanira Castro, Janet Panetta, Lisa Race & Barbara Mahler. I have been faculty at Sarah Lawrence College, Gibney, Peridance, Dancewave and Greenwich Country Day High School. I have taught classes through Motive Brooklyn, Freeskewl and hosted my own outdoor class in Prospect Park and indoors at my private studio space in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. I have been a guest teaching artist at Rutgers University, University of Maryland-College Park, Amherst College, University of Washington-Seattle, Velocity Dance Center, Western Washington University, Bellingham Rep, Louisiana State University, New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), Lusher Charter High School and Dancing Grounds. In addition to offering a contemporary practices class, I offer classes in technique, composition & choreography, improvisation, dance history, dance & interdisciplinary creative process & repertory.

pilates class-
I teach a contemporary style of pilates that prioritizes safe body mechanics. I work to hold a space for all folks to breathe, slow down, organize, work, sweat and connect with their bodies. My classes focus on alignment, stability, strength, breath, balance & flow- working through, in & around the classical pilates choreography to create body-supportive progressions that get all bodies moving in all directions. I prioritizes access, inclusivity & curiosity in my teaching- offering classes fit for professional movers, mothers, teachers, servers, office workers, etc. I trust that movement is healing, and healing is for everyone. I completed my Pilates Teacher Training at The Kane School.
