The Most Important Thing

2014

performed by Kehinde Ishangi

The Most Important Thing, a solo performed by Kehinde Ishangi, is a dance that investigates dehumanization and what it takes to see people as people. This dance begins with the literal metaphor of human as trash, with Kehinde dancing inside of a black trash bag unnoticed by the audience at first. Ultimately, this work proposes that the beginning of the end of dehumanization might just possibly be things as simple as listening and dancing together.
